A Pissed off Obama post.
The group chat has gone quiet after someone asks who left the oven on all night. Nobody answers. Your flatmate's eyes drift towards you, and you can feel the accusation forming before a word is said. Someone has eaten the last biscuit and put the empty packet back in the cupboard. You stand in the kitchen at 10 pm and calmly list the suspects. There are two of them, and one is you, but that's not the point. The meeting invite says "quick chat". The manager has already shared a screen, and the first slide has your name on it. You have not read the email that goes with it. Your mum asks, in the same breath, whether you've called your gran and whether you've done anything about the thing. You know which thing. You say you're on it. You are not on it. **Why it caught on:** the picture shows a man in a dark suit jabbing a finger straight at the viewer with a hard, unimpressed stare, and the meme is captioned as Barack Obama. People used it for stern-authority jokes: the birth certificate rumours, drone strikes, phone surveillance and being blamed for everything. It spread because the pointing finger works for any moment of blame, whatever the politics behind the first captions.
