Your mate says the exam is open-book, open-internet, open-everything. You've had a whole term. You assumed this day would never come, and now you are staring at a question about a topic you have never opened a tab for. The recipe says to simmer for forty minutes, stirring constantly. Someone tells you the delivery will be there in ten. You look at the pan, the clock and your phone, and the answer is the same every time. The mouthwash bottle says to swish for thirty seconds. Eight in, your eyes water and your whole face folds in on itself. Finishing it feels like a task for a stronger person. Your boss asks if the whole report can be done by end of day, plus the changes from the other three people who haven't replied yet. You smile and say you'll see what you can do. Nothing about this is possible. **Why it caught on:** the picture shows a young man in a TV studio with his face screwed up in a grimace of disbelief, and the word "impossibru" is a deliberately mangled "impossible", in the same family as "ermagerd" and "hilarious" typed as "hiarious". People first put it on tasks that seemed too hard, then on anything absurd. It spread because the face fits every moment of mild despair.
