Somebody in the meeting says "going forward" four times in a minute, then asks if anyone has any questions. You have one, but it is about the previous four minutes and you keep it to yourself.

The driver in front of you has been indicating since the last roundabout. He is now in the wrong lane, at a standstill, with the blinker still going. Nobody in the queue is sure whether it is a signal or a lifestyle.

Why it caught on: the picture is a still of a man in aviator glasses, a blue shirt, a patterned tie and red braces, holding a coffee mug in an open-plan office. It comes from a 1999 office comedy, and the image spread online with a polite, passive-aggressive request in the first line and "that'd be great" at the end. It spread because the format fits any complaint, from the petty to the serious, and the mild tone makes the demand sound bigger.
