News breaks that something astonishing has happened, and by lunchtime the whole office is discussing a minor detail of it. The achievement is forgotten. The detail has a hashtag.
Why it caught on: the picture is a still of Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in *Star Trek: The Next Generation*, mid-speech, one hand held out and mouth open, with a Klingon officer behind him. It was captioned as an exasperated question, the setup on top and the obvious objection below, and it spread because everyone has a point nobody else wants to hear.
