🎬 Which One Are You (Literally Me) Meme Generator
Your friend asks which of two films you'd rather watch tonight. You say "either's fine", then spend ten minutes quietly steering them towards the one you wanted. You are not manipulative. You just have a type of evening in mind.
Someone shows you their morning routine: cold shower, journal, protein shake, a podcast at 1.5x speed. You nod along and say it sounds great. You are still in bed at ten with a biscuit.
A colleague says they "just can't stand people who are fake". You think about your own LinkedIn and smile at them in a way you've been practising for years. Everyone is a bit of both, and you're not telling them which.
You see two characters in a film, one wandering through the city at night unable to feel anything, the other perfectly dressed and unable to feel anything. You tell yourself you're the better-adjusted one. You make a note to check on that later.
Why it caught on: the pictures are stills from two films: a lone man in a sleek suit and headphones from *American Psycho* (2000), and a man in clown make-up dancing down a long outdoor staircase from *Joker* (2019), alongside other brooding film characters. "Literally me" began as a caption on lonely, detached leading men, and the "which one are you" grid turned it into a personality test where you pick the character you secretly see yourself in. It spread because it is a joke about identifying with the least healthy role model in the room.
