Your plan to fix the office is simple. The printer jams every Monday, so you decide it needs a soul, not a technician. By Wednesday nobody has fixed anything, but the team is talking about it with oddly strong feelings.
You delete the group chat's tenth "reply all" thread and suggest, for once, a conversation by the kettle. Three people turn up. One of them says something honest. It is the best meeting of the quarter.
You find a stranger's lost loyalty card, spend your lunch hour on the phone to the shop, and have it returned with a free coffee on it. Nobody knows it was you. This is, somehow, the best part.
At the pub quiz your team is down by two points and everyone has given up. You write one answer with total conviction. It is wrong. It is also the funniest thing that happens all night, and nobody remembers the score.
Why it caught on: the picture is the character Tyler Durden from the 1999 film Fight Club, played by Brad Pitt, shown in a red leather jacket and sunglasses with a cigarette, cut out and set against a green and cream sunburst. People used it for the "philosophical" format: a reckless first line, then a twist that turns the stunt into something oddly wise or kind. It spread because the formula was easy to bend, and anyone could pass off a daft idea as a life lesson.
