Group project, day before the deadline. The one person who has done nothing assigns you the slides, the research and the speech, then goes to "keep an eye on things". The things are in his phone.
The flatmate who hasn't left the sofa since Tuesday sends you to sort the broken boiler, the landlord and the bins. He says it with total confidence. He is, he feels, a leader.
Why it caught on: the picture is Sergeant Foley, a squad leader from the 2009 video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, shown as a floating head in a helmet and goggles on an orange pinwheel background. Players remembered him bellowing "Ramirez!" at a soldier, so people kept the name on the top line and put an impossible order underneath. It spread because everyone has been the one told to do the absurd thing by someone who stays put.
