Somebody in the group chat says they've never watched it and never will. You send a calm, measured reply. It is nine paragraphs long and has a bulleted list.

You open a blank template to make a joke about literally anything else, and every caption that comes out is about the pony. The cloud was a good place to be. You stay on the cloud.

Why it caught on: the picture shows Rainbow Dash, the blue pegasus with the rainbow mane from *My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic*, lying on a cloud with her eyes shut. The cartoon was rebooted in 2010 and picked up a large adult following online, nicknamed bronies, so the memes spread quickly, from "20% cooler" jokes to captions swearing the show had taken over the internet. People used it because it was cheerful, gloriously earnest and impossible to hide a love for once you'd started.
