The meeting invite has no agenda, no description and a title of "Catch up". You accept it anyway. You spend the next two days quietly composing what you will say if it turns out to be bad news.
You are asked to "just lend a hand" with a project that has no owner, no deadline and, as far as anyone can tell, no point. You nod. You will be on it until spring.
Why it caught on: the picture is Kermit the Frog, the Muppet created by Jim Henson, resting his chin on his hand with a calm, knowing look. Online, people pair that serene face with a caption that is either a dry bit of understatement or something wildly inappropriate, and the template took off because the contrast between the gentle puppet and the blunt, often crude words is funny whatever the subject.
