Why it caught on: the picture is a crude hand-drawn stick figure with a smug, squinting, chin-up face, the "Fuck Yeah" guy from the rage comic world that grew on 4chan and Reddit around 2010 and 2011. The creator isn't known. People used it to celebrate a small, ridiculous win, or to accept a dare they should have turned down, and it spread because the drawing is so easy to copy and the feeling is so familiar.
