It became a meme on Reddit in September 2011. She looks helpful. She is not. Her smile is the smile of someone about to say "the bell doesn't dismiss you, I do." The top line is a reasonable request or rule. The bottom line is what she actually does. "Doesn't allow Wikipedia sources" / "uses 30-year-old textbooks." "Assigns a 10-page paper" / "complains about grading them." "Can I go to the bathroom?" / "You should have gone during lunch." In 2013 the Austin school district in Texas put the same stock photo on the cover of its guide for new teachers. Students noticed. It was a teaching moment, just not the intended one. **Why it caught on:** everyone had this teacher, and everyone still remembers the study guide that had nothing to do with the exam.
