Niama / Kick 9 u
A sparta kick post.
The cold caller asks if you have a minute to talk about your boiler cover. You do, in fact, have a minute. You use it to end the call, firmly, with a flourish nobody sees. Your landlord says the rent is going up "in line with the market". You read the email twice, close the laptop and spend the evening composing the reply you will never send. The group chat has been muted for six weeks, and you finally leave it. Forty-one messages arrive in the last second. Nobody notices you've gone, and the silence is magnificent. Black Friday, 6:01 a.m. You close the tab with 14 items in the basket, the countdown timer and the "only 2 left!" banner. You pour a coffee. The ghost of your bank balance thanks you. **Why it caught on:** the picture is a scene from the film *300* (2006), directed by Zack Snyder, in which King Leonidas, played by Gerard Butler, kicks a Persian messenger into a pit while shouting "This is Sparta!" The line was remixed endlessly on YouTube, and the still became a template for booting out anything unwelcome, from bad football rules to bad neighbours. That same flexibility meant it was also grabbed for plenty of crude political captions, with the kicked figure standing in for whatever the poster wanted gone.
