Whaaa.. / Why u so fast
A Confused Jackie Chan post.
Someone in a meeting says the project is "on track but also behind", and the manager nods as though that were a status. You look round the table for a second person who has noticed. Nobody has. You open the group chat after an hour away. Forty-one messages, three arguments, one of them about a meal nobody ate, and a reply to a message that was deleted. You scroll up. You scroll down. You put the phone away. The self-checkout says "unexpected item in the bagging area". The item is your shopping. You take it out, put it back, and the machine apologises. Behind you, someone sighs in a way you take personally. Your relative explains how the family is related to a man at a wedding. It involves a second cousin, a remarriage and a house in Leeds. By the end you nod and agree to be his cousin. **Why it caught on:** the picture shows a man with both hands raised to his head, squinting in total bewilderment, and the meme takes its name from Jackie Chan. It was captioned for anything baffling, from game mishaps to wrong geography to plain "what?", and the face fitted all of them. Some captions put broken English in his mouth, leaning on the old stereotype that East Asian speakers can't manage the language, and it hasn't aged well.
