A Confession Bear post.

In the summer of 2012 a Reddit user posted it to r/AdviceAnimals as "Confession Bear", and it spread fast. The bear seems to be about to tell you something. It is. You won't like it, but you'll recognise it. Captions are anonymous admissions, almost always starting with "I". "I don't actually like coffee" / "I just like holding a warm cup." "I pretend to text" / "so I don't have to talk to people in the lift." "I've never seen Star Wars" / "and at this point I'm too afraid to say so." Some go darker, and the internet takes them very seriously indeed; most are the small sins of daily life. The bear's face says the confession costs something, which makes the reader feel forgiving - or quietly relieved. **Why it caught on:** people wanted to confess, and the bear gave them a place to do it without a name attached.
