Philosoraptor is a drawing of a velociraptor with its claw on its chin, lost in thought. It started as a T-shirt design by LonnieMachin and became an advice animal around 2008. Velociraptors had about sixty-five million years to think things over, and this one finally got round to it. The results are mixed. Captions are shower thoughts dressed up as philosophy, usually a question split across the two lines. "If you try to fail and succeed... which have you done?" "If you clean a vacuum cleaner, are you the vacuum cleaner?" "Why is it called a building if it's already built?" Some are genuinely clever. Most are puns wearing a lab coat. The raptor doesn't mind either way - it has never once arrived at an answer, which is the most philosophical thing about it. **Why it caught on:** everyone has a 2 a.m. thought that feels profound, and a dinosaur makes it look even more serious.
