DEADLINEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
A Khan post.
The deadline email says "no later than Friday". It is Friday, 4:58 pm, and the file you were told was "basically done" is still called final_FINAL_v7. You open it and scream internally, then a little externally. The Wi-Fi drops on the last ten minutes of a film you have been watching for two hours. The little wheel spins. You stare at it. The wheel stares back and does not care. You bought a train ticket to save forty pence. The "cheap" site has added a booking fee, a card fee, a fee for the fee, and a seat reservation next to the toilets. You hit the table. Your tea hits the floor. Someone replies all to a company-wide email with "please remove me from this list". Then someone replies all to say "please stop replying all". By lunchtime there are forty of them, and your inbox is a war. **Why it caught on:** the picture is a still of the character Khan, shouting in the 1982 film Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, where he bellows his enemy's name across the void. People captioned it with a drawn-out roar aimed at whatever had wronged them, from Comcast and the browser's pop-ups to a certain Marco and the president, and any long, furious "-aaaaan" word has fitted ever since.
