A Successful Black Man post.
A stock photo of a young man in a dark suit, pale yellow shirt and patterned tie, looking calmly into the camera. It's sold on Shutterstock as a picture of a handsome businessman. The meme began in 4chan threads and got its Meme Generator page in 2010. The trick is all in the line break. The top line starts walking straight into a tired stereotype. The bottom line turns around and becomes a mortgage advisor. "I'll take all your money" / "and invest it in a diversified portfolio." "Hey girl, can I get your number?" / "I'd like to add you to my LinkedIn." "I know where you live" / "because I'm on the neighbourhood watch committee." The man himself just looks like someone who reads the terms and conditions. That's the point: the only thing ever stolen here is the reader's assumption. He has, in effect, been pranking bigots with financial literacy since 2010. **Why it caught on:** a setup-and-swerve joke where the punchline is decency, and the audience is the one who gets caught.
