Your friend asks for "a quick favour" and, forty minutes later, you are still holding the other end of a wardrobe on a staircase. Nobody is thanking you. You are thinking about how little you were told. The group chat votes on a restaurant. Everyone says "I'm easy, anything is fine". You suggest somewhere, and three people reply with a single thumbs-down and the word "hmm". Nobody offers a second place. Someone leaves a note on the office fridge: "WHOSE YOGHURT IS THIS". It has been there since Tuesday. Below it, in different handwriting, "not mine". Below that, in a third hand, "it is now". Your mate asks if you can do something about the dodgy car tyre. You say you'll look into it. You then watch a video about toothpaste, which doesn't help, but you feel you've done the research. **Why it caught on:** Dolan is a crudely drawn, MS Paint style Donald Duck, with a blue cap and a lopsided grin, which started on the imageboard 4chan around 2009 in comics that featured him. The comics were deliberately misspelled, scruffy and badly behaved. The look suited a meme, so people used it for rude one-liners, and for stupid ones, and added his friend Gooby to the cast.
