Dissect my existence into fragments / this shall be mine final Maneuver
A Joseph Ducreux post.
Archaic Rap uses a self-portrait of Joseph Ducreux, an 18th-century French painter, pointing at the viewer with a knowing smirk. He painted it around 1793; he was a portrait painter whose sitters included a young Marie Antoinette. Ducreux liked painting himself pulling faces, which was unusual at the time and makes him a natural meme two centuries early. The meme rewrites modern rap lyrics in grand, old-fashioned language. The top line starts the lyric, the bottom finishes it. "Disregard females, acquire currency." "I possess ninety-nine dilemmas, yet a female dog is not among them." "Gentlemen, I implore you to depart my shopping establishment." The fun is decoding: you read the fancy version, the tune clicks in your head, and the finger is pointing right at you while it happens. **Why it caught on:** a powdered gentleman delivering rap lyrics is funny every time, and the puzzle makes you work for it.
