Your mate's new sofa arrives: deep, grey, still wrapped in plastic. He gives you the tour. You nod slowly and say nothing, because some things don't need words. The bakery tray comes out of the oven at 7 a.m., the pastries glossy and perfectly browned. You were only popping in for milk. You leave with eleven pounds fewer and a bag you are not sharing. An estate agent opens a door in a flat you can't afford. Solid oak, heavy, closes with a soft thud. You ask about the bedroom. You are thinking about the door. A colleague shares a spreadsheet with flawless formatting, every column aligned, every cell a calm shade of blue. Nobody says a word. The whole meeting just respects it. **Why it caught on:** the picture shows a young man in tinted sunglasses and a black leather jacket, biting his lip as he looks sideways at something off camera. People captioned it "Dat Ass", then pointed the same look at doors, file extensions, Greek anatomy terms and anything else worth admiring, and the look did the rest. It spread because the expression is instantly readable and works on any object.
