It does freedom, at volume, preferably with fireworks. Captions are patriotism turned up until it squeaks. "Can't hear you" / "over all this freedom." "Join the army" / "it's like Call of Duty without respawns." "Chants U.S.A. at hockey games" / "three quarters of the team are Canadian." "Spain?" / "oh, you mean old Mexico." Most posts are written by Americans laughing at themselves, plus a few from abroad laughing at Americans - the eagle accepts all of them. Its expression never changes, because an eagle who looks this stern can't be seen to lighten up. **Why it caught on:** a stereotype, a flag and a bird of prey make the perfect stage for poking fun at national pride.
