Non Jealous Girl meme: you phone is ringing / do you need some privacy to answer it?

A Non Jealous Girl post.

Your boyfriend says his best mate is a girl, and that she'll be at the thing on Saturday. You say "cool, we can all hang out" and mean it. He spends the evening waiting for the catch. He mentions he's off to the cinema with a friend who happens to be a woman. You ask what they're seeing, and whether he'd like a lift. He goes quiet, because he had a whole speech prepared. Someone asks if you ever get jealous. You think about it properly for a moment, then say you might, if the competition were better looking. Then you go back to your toast. He tells you, very carefully, that he'll be out on Friday night. You've already made plans: a duvet, a snack and three hours of Pokémon. You haven't thought about it since. **Why it caught on:** the picture is a stock-style photo of a young woman with a flat, unbothered stare against a plain colour-wheel background, in the Advice Animal format that spread across Reddit and meme sites around 2011 and 2012. The format answered the jealous, suspicious girlfriend stereotype with the opposite: a girlfriend so relaxed she barely looks up. It spread because it flipped a tired cliché into a fantasy of zero drama, and because the punchlines, from deadpan insults to cheerful indifference, are easy to write.
