The meme came from 4chan and took off in August 2010. This bird has never relaxed. Not once. Every noise is a burglar, every glance is a conspiracy, every saved file might vanish if not saved again. The top line is a perfectly normal event, the bottom line the worst possible reading of it. "A car takes the same turn" / "I'm being followed." "Cat stares at an empty corner" / "oh no, a ghost." "Bag left on the train" / "it's a bomb." "Live alone" / "still lock the bathroom door." What makes it work is that nobody is actually in danger. The parrot is just doing what your brain does at 2am, only with better plumage. Saving the document every minute, honestly, is fair. **Why it caught on:** everyone has a tiny internal parrot, and this one finally said the quiet parts out loud.
