can fly trought cities / can't jump a gap
A Professor Oak post.
Professor Oak, the Pokémon professor from Pallet Town, drawn in his frowning anime style on a red, blue and grey sunburst. He first appeared in Pokémon Red and Green in 1996, where he gives you your first Pokémon. The jokes poke holes in the logic of the games. The top line is something Oak says or does. The bottom line points out how odd that is. "Known you your whole life, live next door" / "Are you a boy or a girl?" "Spent my whole life researching Pokémon" / "Here, have a blank Pokédex." "Says it's dangerous out there" / "Gives a ten-year-old one Pokémon and waves goodbye." There's also the eternal: "Can't go to the next town" / "Small bush in the way." Oak is a world-famous scientist who outsources his entire life's work to a child. He also forgets his own grandson's name. Peer review in Kanto is clearly very relaxed. **Why it caught on:** anyone who played the games had noticed how strange it all was.
