You plan a lazy Sunday. Your phone rings at 9. It's your mum. She's "just passing".
You've cleared the evening for the new series. The first episode starts with "previously on". You've never seen it before.
You take your book to the park. It starts to rain. You take your book back.
Day off. Garden chair out. Sun's out. The neighbour starts the lawnmower.
Why it caught on: in "The Paper" (season 1, 1999) Squidward sets out his lounge chair for a quiet afternoon, then folds it back up and goes inside once SpongeBob turns up. In 2019 the two frames became a format on Reddit: the plan to relax, then the moment it's cancelled.
